I've always dreamed of being a mother. I've always dreamed of making a living creating things with my hands. My sweet summer baby, my darling daughter who was born in July 2010, has helped to make both of these dreams come true.
I grew up watching my mom and grandma sew. I was blessed to have an amazing home ec program in high school where I learned the basics of how to sew. My mom bought me my own sewing machine when I finished graduate school. But it wasn't until my daughter was born that I knew how to put all of these things together. Sewing for her helped me to realize how fun and how fulfilling designing and sewing can be.
I live in central Florida where the warm weather and bright colors inspire my designs. I love to work with cottons - they wear well, wash well, and make kids clothes come to life. I make clothes that kids want to wear - simple, bright, and fun.
I am blessed to be able to work from home - my incredibly supportive husband makes this all possible. He's gradually given over his office to become my studio - my room full of notions, he calls it - and I am eternally grateful. But none of this would be possible if I hadn't finally been blessed with my Sweet Summer Baby.
